Good character interaction and fun, quippy banter. Impressive world building, plot and character development. I think this was a little over-hyped for me 'cause I didn't LOVE love it the way I expected to, but then again I tend to be more impressed by the technical skill in these large ensemble fantasies than in love with the story and characters; same thing happened when I read Raven Boys and ADSOM. However; often the second book really makes it, so I'm excited to continue on to the sequel, and even if it doesn't blow my mind, this is still really solid, entertaining and well-written fantasy. Well worth the read.
