The Night Circus

The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern I feel under-equipped to comment on this. It's literary fiction with a fantasy heart. It's a beautiful and broken and even horrific meditation on truth and life and love and meaning. It's boundary-breaking meta commentary. It shatters rules around tense and voice and relatable characters and a hero's journey while subtly underlining them. It's a book for all ages, all perspectives, all readers and none at all. It's entirely uncommercial, and yet enormously appealing. It invites effusive adjectives, and yet its inerrant craft justifies much stronger language, much clearer images. It is detached and distant and emotional and vibrant all at once. This is an author to watch.
